With our guidebook, travellers have access to over 4,300 kilometres of tarmac roads in Albania! Criss-crossing the country, from north to south and from west to east!

This completely redesigned travel guide features 12 main routes (11 in Albania, 1 along the border through North Macedonia), 16 secondary routes – some of which are well off the beaten track – and 80 side trips to destinations, some of which were only recently upgraded and tarmacked in autumn 2021 or spring 2022.

Each destination section contains information designed to give readers and travellers a clear picture of the destination, without overwhelming them with unnecessary details. Detailed route information provides reassurance in advance and helps to avoid unpleasant surprises. For example, you’ll find not only the length of the route, but also the estimated journey time, elevation changes, vehicle category, distances in kilometres to the next junction, viewpoints, the number of campsites and parking spaces along the route, and much more. There’s also plenty of information on where to find the nearest supermarket, currency exchange, internet café, car park, etc.

In addition to being mentioned in the relevant chapter, the 100 campsites are marked on the respective route maps in the book; there is also a four-page overview of campsites with contact details, opening hours and coordinates for reference, as well as an interactive Google Maps overview map available as a supplementary download, which is updated regularly.

All routes and detours are available as GPX files for sat-nav software, as well as KML files for Google Maps and Google Earth; these are also available for travelling from south to north or from east to west – in other words, in the opposite direction to that described in the book.

We have also made the city maps, featuring their sights, available for download as Google Maps files.

In addition, there is a Google Maps map showing over 100 campsites, which also includes the pitches mentioned in the book. This map shows 125 free pitches.

We are also providing another map showing 41 olive oil mills in Albania and the 100 very traditional villages that receive state support, many of them are described in the book.

Wherever a hiking symbol appears in the book, you’ll find GPX files and maps of hiking trails in the immediate vicinity of the detour in the data download.
